Since I am engaged now we are planning our wedding which will take place on the 15th of April 2017. I cannot tell you enough how excited I am for this day and how happy I am that this is really going to happen within 8 months!

Of course it comes with a lot of planning and preparations where you want everything to be on its best at that special day. We were really stressing a few month earlier about how we are going to get everything planned and organized with our busy schedules so we choose a location and hired an event planner who are going to make sure that everything is going to be well prepared on our day. It is not a total wedding planning package since they don’t take care of the invitations and my wedding bouquet but they are going to take care of the decoration, beverages, wedding cake, the band, limo, videographers & photographers and everything I will need on the location. Of course I will have to go to a few meeting with them to choose all the things which will fit me and my fiancée, but at least I know I don’t have to organize it so I can totally focus on my dress, make-up and hair (which is the most important of course 🙂 )

Here are 10 simple things to do or keep in mind that will make any Wedding planning process a little smoother:

  1. Communication is important at all times.
Whether it’s with your husband-to-be, your families or your vendors; communication is very essential to make sure you are on the same line in the entire journey there. It is important that they know, understand and respect your preferences. This includes budgeting.
  2. Do research on your vendors.
Look at the work they’ve done before you chose them. Every vendor has its own style, so do not expect them to create something that is not in their style an trust them. You chose them for a reason, so let them do their work.
  3. Make the decisions which makes you and your husband-to-be happy.
Try not to let the million opinions around you stress or lead you. Understand that people want the best for you, it’s just a difference in opinion and you make the decision. Be open minded and polite, but logical.
  4. Create a wedding email address.
This simple task will made me and my fiancées life already so much easier. Communication gets lost and there won’t be an overview. Make sure everything you express to your vendors is in writing.
  5. Your wedding Dress.
This should probably be bullet point number 1! Find the dress which fits you and your body well. When you find one your heart says YES to, stop looking; you will only confuse yourself further. Wear a dress that screams YOU and hopefully 10/20 years from now, you won’t regret. Most importantly, be comfortable!

  6. Makeup & Hair.
I can speak volumes on this bulletpoint alone. You must find stylists and artists that are your style. Do not go to someone and ask for something they’ve never seen before. Chances are, they will struggle with it and so will you. And if you’ve chosen them, trust them, but it is also important that you communicate your likes and dislikes. Most importantly – please stick to who you are. Do not take risks and try something “new” on your wedding day. Be the BEST version of YOURSELF!
  7. Don’t do extreme changing and things you haven’t done before.
Don’t spraytan before your wedding if you’ve never spraytanned before. Try it first in advance and see how you like it. Don’t change your hair color drastically; you don’t know how it will look and whether you will like it a few years from now.
  8. Work on your beauty from the inside out. At least the month of your wedding, try getting a lot of sleep, drinking a lot of water, eating healthy and following a good skincare regimen. (I will post skincare advice soon) All of the above will make such a difference on your overall look at your wedding! You will look and feel healthy, have more energy and have a great skin. Very important is to do not do any facials within a week of your wedding. Make sure your facials are at least 2 weeks in advance so your skin has recovery time.
  9. Plan your day realistically.
Always allow spare time in your day. Things will go wrong: your hair stylist/makeup artist may be running behind (very common), your florists may be stuck in traffic, your photographer may want to do your photoshoot at a certain time based on the daylight. So many things may go wrong, but you have to be prepared. If you have scheduled your entire day really tight then you probably need to make some adjustments because this will inevitably create stress on your day.
  10. Last but not least enjoy your day!
What I hear commonly from my brides is that the day flies by. After all, it’s time to let go and enjoy what you’ve worked so hard to create. Try to pay attention to everything going on around you and take it all in. In addition, people around you will feed off of your energy, if you’re having a good time, they’re having a good time! And most importantly, you are getting married to the love of your life! So have fun and make beautiful memories.

This is all so exciting for me as well as for you, so I hope that I can succeed and manage to make the 15th april 2017 the most beautiful day of my life!
